Earth on Her Hands* is the gardening book closest to my heart with its stories and photographs of 18 modern, visionary gardeners and their living masterworks. I like to think of them as red-headed gardeners. Although my training and career has been in journalism and communications in the Pacific Northwest, earth has always been on my hands. Now that I’m across the country in Virginia, I’ve had the opportunity to really dig in, with training as a Master Gardener and memberships in the regional units of the Herb Society of America and the Native Plant Society – and who knows what else is in store.
